Head lice are a pain in the neck... and in the head, behind the ears and in classrooms and school offices up and down the country!
Schools and Nurseries are often unfairly held accountable for the spread of these parasitic (but actually brilliant and amazingly well adapted) little creatures. In fact many schools report that the nuisance factor of dealing with the enquiries, questions and parents' misconceptions actually outweigh the nuisance factor of the lice themselves!
Consisting of a DVD and a dedicated website which is available to your entire school community Advice Bank : Head Lice has been carefully designed to help. This multimedia resource contains all the latest information* in a choice of simple and clear formats to help. Schools can lend parents a copy of the DVD, point them to the website or direct parents to the various fact sheets available.
The important issues surrounding head lice are all covered and clear programmes on each issue are available on both the DVD and the website. Topics covered include the essential facts, the common myths, how to detect head lice, the treatment options available and even clear demonstrations of how each treatment should be carried out effectively to eradicate an infection and prevent it from being passed on.
Whilst schools are certainly not to blame (and we make this abundantly clear in the resource!) they are well placed to pass on clear, up-to-date information and this brand new multi-media resource (launched mid-February 2009) has been specifically developed to help schools and nurseries do just that.
The website will be constantly updated and will ultimately include multi-lingual fact sheets, sample letters to send to parents and much more. The publishers are even open to suggestions from schools or nurseries to help ensure the website is as informative and accessible as possible.
